3 Ways to Increase Employee Engagement in your Wellness Program

Having a corporate wellness program is great! But do you know what is even better? A corporate wellness program that your employees are actually using and reaping the benefits. If your company is struggling with employee engagement in your current corporate wellness programs, here are 3 ways to increase participation.

  1. Improve communication

Do you employees know what is being offered? Many companies post an informational sign on a bulletin board and hope for the best. Rather, you need to get information out where your employees are already looking: their cellphones, digital displays, high traffic areas, and word of mouth. Multiple forms of communication may seem like overkill, but people need to see it multiple times for it to register.

  1. Give your employees what they want (and what they need)

Are you offering what your employees are interested in? If your employees aren’t interested in Lunchtime Yoga classes, you can hire the best yoga instructor in the world, but the employees still won’t participate. Utilizing a wellness committee that represents the employees wants and needs will be helpful in determining what would bring the most benefit to those at your site. Once attendance and engagement is improved, workplace wellness items that are needed, but maybe not desired, can be introduced.

  1. Connect

Do you employees feel like they belong? Do they feel like they can participate without judgment? Bridging the gap between management and employees, between those unengaged and those that want them to participate revolves around connection. Sometimes a personal connection and invitation is just what is needed to make someone feel like they are cared about.
